Receiver/Seed Bagger - Urban Nature Store

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Receiver/Seed Bagger at Urban Nature Store. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving inventory, particularly bird seed, and repackaging it into smaller-sized bags. This position involves heavy lifting of 50lb bags and requires a strong focus on accuracy, organization, and physical stamina.

Responsibilities:

• Receive incoming inventory, including large bags of bird seed, and verify the accuracy of deliveries against transfer paperwork.
• Unload and move heavy bags weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
• Inspect and ensure the quality of bird seed products, checking for any signs of damage or spoilage.
• Transfer the bird seed from large bags into smaller-sized bags according to specified weights.
• Weigh and measure the bird seed accurately, ensuring each bag meets the designated weight.
• Seal and label the repackaged bird seed bags with relevant product information, such as type and weight.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of packaging materials and waste.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries while handling heavy bags and equipment.
• Assist with inventory management, including tracking stock levels, reporting shortages, and assisting in periodic stock counts.
• Collaborate with the store team to ensure proper inventory rotation and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
• Support other areas of store operations as needed, including customer service, sales, and general store maintenance.

Requirements:

• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy bags weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while repackaging and labeling products.
• Basic math skills to accurately weigh and measure bird seed.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with the store team and report any issues or concerns.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as per the store's schedule.
