Why Should You Test Moisture?
One of the most common problems for experienced and novice gardeners alike is providing the correct amount of moisture to the soil. Damage from overwatering is often difficult to remedy after the fact. Knowing how much moisture your plants are getting help you get better results from your gardening efforts.
When Should You Test Moisture?
You should check your moisture levels each time before you water. If the moisture reading is too wet for the plant you are testing, delay watering until the soil is able to dry out.
Why Should You Test Light Levels?
Plants have very specific light needs and it can often be difficult to judge the actual amount of available light in any given area. With the Rapitest Light and Moisture Meter, you will be able to determine accurate light levels and then compare them with a chart detailing the correct light level for your plants.
How Does Rapitest Light and Moisture Meter Work?
To probe for moisture, push the selector to "moisture" and simply insert the special corrosion-resistant probe deep into the soil of any pot or planter. A tiny amount of electrical energy will be generated by the moisture which will cause the meter needle to register moisture levels from 0 to 10.
To test for light levels, push the selector to "light" and hold the meter so the narrow rectangular 'window' is in the same position as the surface of the leaves on the top of the plant. Then hold the window towards the light source and take a reading. The light is converted into electrical energy which moves the meter needle.
